On Friday afternoon, 20th May 2022, Bukit Vista had the opportunity to hold a guest lecture session with the tourism students at Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada. It has been more than two years since the pandemic has started and affecting the overall tourism industry, not just in Indonesia but also the whole world.
We had our CEO, Mr. Jing Cho Yang to share more on how the pandemic has affected Bukit Vista as a property management company. It all started when everyone in the company started to switch to remote working mode due to the pandemic — where everyone can work from anywhere, be it from home, beach, café, etc. Mr. Jing also showed and demonstrated how it’s like for his current remote working setup.
How can remote working setup support work in the hospitality industry? This is where the tools become handy — Slack, CODA, Trello, Discord have been our best friends in this type of work setting. These tools enable everyone at Bukit Vista to still continuing our workflows as per our usual routine of hosting guests, build relationship with property owners and collaborate with the team.
So, what kind of impact does the pandemic have for our country’s tourism? Our team has witnessed that the demand for high and stable WiFi speed has increased from our guests. Indonesia’s tropical and friendly environment also contributes to the trend here, where our guests can curate their working ambience and environment in their most desired ways. This indicates a start of a new trend of working remotely and Indonesia has the upper hand in leading a worldwide remote work relocation — where this is undoubtly one of the best development for Indonesia’s tourism field.
