As a marketing intern at Bukit Vista, I, Utami, am eager to share the enriching experience from our recent Round Table Talk at Yogyakarta Base on March 15, 2024. This gathering marked a significant dialogue on achieving work-life harmony, engaging luminaries from various disciplines, including the respected Bapak Ardian, a Faculty of Psychology lecturer and Head of the Psychology Career Center at UGM, and Ibu Elisa from UGM’s Tour & Travel department. Representing Bukit Vista, Dea Novita, Ahmad Ali Masykur, and I had the pleasure of facilitating this event, bridging discussions with Mr. Jing Cho Yang, who joined us via Discord.
Bridging Sectors: Bukit Vista's Collaborative Ventures
The collaboration between Bukit Vista and the educational sector, specifically with Mrs. Anik and the Tourism Business D4 at UGM. Initially aimed at integrating guest lectures into the curriculum, the discussion revealed a misalignment due to our focus on property management rather than tourism. However, the silver lining emerged with the realization that Big Data Analytics in tourism presented a potential nexus for future collaboration. This dialogue underscores the importance of flexibility and adaptability in fostering educational partnerships.
Work-Life Harmony: Nurturing Career Development and Personal Growth
Through our interaction with Mr. Jing via Discord, we delved into the significance of work-life harmony, a principle ardently advocated by Bapak Ardian. This conversation spanned the realms of career development, including participation in job fairs and the inception of an intensive class on HRES and information systems. The discussions were a testament to the evolving landscape of real estate and property management, underscored by the imminent role of AI and technology in transforming these sectors. The discourse on AI application in CV screening and its implications for psychology and data analysis illuminated the path for innovative practices in the industry.
Enhancing Industry Engagement through Collaborative Learning Initiative
The collaboration between the Faculty of Psychology UGM and Bukit Vista has progressed to scheduling an Intensive Class Agenda for July, focusing on practical applications of technology in psychology and property management. The curriculum is designed around two option themes: System Discussion and AI Usage, which will cover AI’s role in CV screening, its application in psychology for data screening, and practical exercises using Slack and AI for CV screening; and the Role of UX Researcher, concentrating on UI/UX design principles, messaging, and hands-on instruction from the Yogyakarta team.
To foster deeper engagement and interaction among participants, the decision has been made to conduct these classes offline. This approach is expected to not only facilitate a more immersive learning experience but also to enhance the understanding of AI’s impact in modern industries and the crucial role of UI/UX design in technology’s interface with humans.
Strengthening Collaborations through Class and Research Collaboration
In a significant stride towards enhancing educational synergy and research rigor, the Faculty of Psychology UGM and Bukit Vista are set to embark on a pioneering journey of Class and Research Collaboration. This initiative aims to facilitate intensive meetings dedicated to research collaboration, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and strategies.
Embracing Life's Major Decisions
A poignant part of our discussion revolved around navigating major life decisions, distinguishing between emotional and problem-based coping strategies amidst a quarter-life crisis. This segued into a broader conversation on the challenges and strategies pertinent to higher education, from navigating PhD programs to confronting academic hurdles. These deliberations underscored the essence of emotional resilience and a steadfast commitment to personal and professional development as the cornerstone of academic and career success.
Conclusion: Work-Life Harmony and Life in the Digital Age
The Round Table Talk at Bukit Vista’s Yogyakarta Base highlighted the essential balance of work-life harmony, spotlighting the transformative impact of AI applications and big data analytics in the real estate and property management sectors. These discussions emphasized the importance of career development within the digital age’s complexities, offering valuable insights for those aiming to navigate their professional and personal lives with equilibrium.
