Hi, I’m Rama, and today I’m excited to share the significant progress made by Bukit Vista’s employee team over the past six months. This article highlights the team’s achievements in recruitment, university collaborations, event management, and internal talent initiatives. Our goal is to showcase the strategic efforts that are driving Bukit Vista’s growth while offering insight into why future talent might find Bukit Vista an inspiring place to work. These initiatives reflect the ongoing contributions of the HR and PR teams and their critical role in supporting Bukit Vista’s mission of continuous growth and innovation.
Expanding the Talent Pool: Bangkit Capstone Project
Following the success of our university collaborations, Bukit Vista extended its recruitment efforts by partnering with Dicoding’s Bangkit Capstone Project. This initiative connects us with students specializing in machine learning, cloud computing, and mobile development, offering them the opportunity to tackle real-world challenges. By engaging with the next generation of tech talent, we provided these students with hands-on industry experience.
Through this collaboration, Bukit Vista has significantly increased brand awareness and successfully recruited top talents like Ega, our MSIB Flutter Developer intern, and Azel and Widya, our MSIB Data Scientist interns. Their work has contributed to improving internal processes, such as developing machine learning models for guest review management and enhancing the backend architecture for our platforms. These students have brought fresh ideas and innovation, enriching the work environment at Bukit Vista.
In addition to direct hires, we’ve seen a steady influx of applications from Bangkit alumnae, further enriching our talent pipeline for technical roles. This partnership has proven to be a win-win for both the students, who gain real-world experience, and for Bukit Vista, as we benefit from their tech skills and creativity.
Our ongoing collaboration with Bangkit reflects Bukit Vista’s commitment to embracing tech-driven solutions while building a sustainable talent pipeline. By working with students who specialize in cutting-edge technologies, we’re ensuring that Bukit Vista remains ahead of the curve in both innovation and talent acquisition.
University Collaborations: Strengthening Academic Partnerships
Beyond recruitment, Bukit Vista has engaged in 23+ collaborations with universities over the past six months, forming strategic partnerships that benefit both the students and the company. These engagements include guest lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects designed to provide students with a real-world understanding of the property management industry.
One of our most successful initiatives has been hosting 10+ guest lectures at leading universities like Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). These sessions allowed students to interact directly with professionals, offering them insights into how the property industry operates. By providing students with practical knowledge and industry-specific case studies, we were able to significantly increase our talent pool. As a result, Bukit Vista has a broader and more diverse selection of highly qualified candidates for future roles.
In addition, the Bukit Vista team facilitated 11 internships over this period, offering students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. These internships provided a platform for students to apply what they’ve learned in a real-world setting, enabling them to develop the skills needed to thrive in the workplace. Many of these interns have now become strong candidates for full-time positions, demonstrating how Bukit Vista’s collaborative approach to recruitment helps foster long-term talent development.
Our holistic approach to talent acquisition leverages university partnerships to ensure that we are not only filling roles but also helping shape the future of our industry. By nurturing young talent and guiding their development through internships and collaborative projects, Bukit Vista is creating a sustainable pipeline for future recruitment.
Recruitment Innovation: UGM Engineering Guest Lecture
One of the most notable examples of our university collaboration is the UGM Engineering Guest Lecture, an initiative aimed at identifying high-potential talent in the field of engineering. This event was specifically designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application, providing students with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities present in the property management industry.
During this event, our HR team identified Luthfi, an exceptional engineering student whose performance stood out among his peers. Recognizing his potential, Bukit Vista offered him a “golden ticket” to fast-track his recruitment. Luthfi joined the team as a Backend Developer intern and, due to his outstanding performance, was quickly promoted to a part-time role.
This initiative exemplifies Bukit Vista’s innovative recruitment strategy, showing how educational collaborations can be an effective way to identify and develop top talent. By nurturing these relationships with universities, we continue to build a strong talent pipeline while giving students meaningful opportunities to kickstart their careers.
Event Management: Elevating Bukit Vista’s Global Reach
The employee team has also made significant strides in event management, organizing a series of key events over the past six months that have enhanced Bukit Vista’s visibility on both a local and international scale. These events provided a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and strengthening partnerships with academic institutions and industry leaders.
In Jogja, Bukit Vista hosted a University Dinner in collaboration with UGM. This event brought together academic leaders and Bukit Vista representatives to discuss university-industry collaboration and explore future partnership opportunities. The dinner led to a series of follow-up initiatives, including a guest lecture and a podcast with the Department of Mathematics at UGM. These initiatives have contributed to enhancing Bukit Vista’s brand awareness and expanding our talent pool, supporting the company’s recruitment goals by positioning Bukit Vista as an attractive employer for top academic talent.
International Roadshow in California
Internationally, the California Roadshow was a key milestone for Bukit Vista. During this trip, CEO Jing, a proud UC Berkeley alumnus, reconnected with his alma mater to explore potential collaborations with global investors and industry leaders. His engagements provided valuable insights into the future of data visualization, machine learning, and how these technologies can be applied within the property management industry.
Reflecting on the roadshow, Jing commented, “Reconnecting with Berkeley’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit felt like an incredible opportunity to align Bukit Vista with future innovations.” As a direct result of this initiative, Bukit Vista has been invited to deliver a guest lecture at UC Berkeleyon November 19th, 2024, further cementing our position as a leader in innovation within the property management space.
Shift Management Evolution: From Balance Buddy Work to Strategic User Research
Internally, Bukit Vista has also focused on refining its talent management strategies to promote productivity and encourage cross-departmental collaboration. Initially, we introduced the Balance Buddy Work (BBW) program, which encouraged employees to engage with each other’s projects. While this program helped identify areas for improvement, it placed an unsustainable workload on employees, ultimately limiting its effectiveness.
To address these challenges, Bukit Vista rebranded BBW into Strategic User Research (SUR), which retains the same collaborative spirit but with a more focused, strategic approach. Instead of burdening employees with additional tasks, SUR allows team members to conduct focused research on specific processes and share insights that can lead to operational improvements.
One excellent example of SUR in action was when the engineering team got involved in operations research. They reviewed the current processes and identified opportunities to use technology to streamline tasks. For instance, they introduced tools that automated guest communication, saving time and making workflows smoother. This allowed the operations team to focus on more strategic tasks, improving overall productivity without overwhelming the staff.
The success of SUR lies in its ability to foster collaboration while reducing employee workload, ultimately improving job satisfaction and leading to higher retention rates. By focusing on data-driven insights, Bukit Vista has created a work environment that promotes continuous improvement and employee well-being.
Conclusion: A Collective Achievement in Talent and Growth
Over the past six months, Bukit Vista’s employee team has made remarkable contributions to the company’s success. From innovative recruitment strategies like the Bangkit Capstone Project to impactful university collaborations and the evolution of internal processes through SUR, these initiatives have strengthened our talent pipeline and established Bukit Vista as a forward-thinking leader in the property management industry.
As we continue to grow, our employee team’s strategic approach to recruitment, talent management, and event coordination will play a crucial role in shaping Bukit Vista’s future. Through continuous innovation and collaboration, Bukit Vista remains an exciting place for talented individuals to contribute and thrive.
