Hello, I’m Jey, currently interning with the Human Resource team at Bukit Vista. You might have come across my previous blogposts and articles, where I’ve shared insights about our company culture and stories from our dedicated employees. Today, I’m excited to share the story of Bukit Vista Interns who embarked on a property testing adventure at one of our properties.

Property management is an ever-evolving field, demanding continuous learning and adaptation. At Bukit Vista, we understand this deeply. In our latest endeavor, we assigned a team of our interns to conduct a property testing exercise at Villa Hattala in Canggu. This exercise, held from 16th to 17th December, was not just an opportunity for practical learning but also a chance to evaluate and improve our service quality from an insider’s perspective.

The Team

The interns who took part in this property testing were Amanda, a Guest Operations intern, Dinda, our Community Manager Intern, Yosefine from Human Resource, and Tanisma, involved in Business Development. Each brought their unique perspective to the exercise, making the feedback comprehensive and multifaceted.

Arrival and First Impressions

Check-In

Upon arrival at Villa Hattala around 9 PM, our interns were greeted by our attentive butlers, Adit and Kadek. The welcoming procedure was impeccable, with thoughtful touches like welcome fruit, a drink, and a small cold towel. What caught our attention was the well-lit property sign “Hattala,” ensuring ease of identification even in the dark. The preparation for our arrival was evident – with the air conditioning already on, creating a comfortable ambiance, and all lights and doors open, indicating thorough preparation by our staff.

Communal & Public Area

The communal areas were well-maintained, although a more detailed cleaning was suggested as some dust was noted in room corners. A nearby construction site was audible from the rooms, and discussions from neighboring workers could potentially disturb guests at night. Attention was also drawn to a small tree near the pool, whose shedding leaves demand regular cleaning.

Cleanliness

The overall cleanliness of Villa Hattala was impressive, rated at 9/10 by our interns. However, they recommended more attention to detail in cleaning, especially in corners, balconies, and floors.

Comfort and Amenities

Quality of Sleep & Bedroom

The bedroom comfort was highly praised, with a special mention of the bed lamps that allow guests to adjust lighting to their preference. The beds, duvets, and pillows were particularly noted for their comfort.

Bathroom

The downstairs bathroom’s transparency raised concerns about privacy, suggesting the need for UV film or blinds. The quality of toiletries was appreciated, though a minor issue with a shower in one of the rooms was noted.

Kitchen and Dining

The kitchen was well-equipped with various appliances and seasonings, but cleanliness issues like a dirty fridge and dish sponge were highlighted. A white stain on the drying rack also drew attention.

Pool and Balcony

The pool was wide and inviting, with the presence of a floatie adding to its appeal. However, cleanliness of the pool area, including leaves and insects, was a concern. The balcony needed better maintenance in terms of cleanliness, and attention was drawn to the sofa tags and dirty glass.

Check-Out

The check-out process was smooth, complemented by a well-prepared breakfast.

Personalized Insights from Bukit Vista’s Perspective

At Bukit Vista, we see this exercise as a vital part of our continuous improvement process. The detailed feedback from our interns provides us with valuable insights into the guest experience. We emphasize the importance of attention to detail in cleaning and maintenance, ensuring privacy and comfort in all areas, including bathrooms. The external noise factor is a challenge that we aim to mitigate through improved property insulation or providing guests with information beforehand.

Conclusion

The property testing exercise at Villa Hattala was a fruitful experience for our team at Bukit Vista. It highlighted the strengths and areas for improvement in our property management approach. As we strive for excellence in hospitality and property management, such exercises are invaluable. They not only provide practical learning opportunities for our interns but also help us stay aligned with our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.
